simple stuff like aim at the head, duel weild a plasma pistol charge to knock off shilds and use a human pistol or smg to finish them off. or just charge plasma pistol blast em and then melee.

1. Experiment with the weapons and vehicles in the game to see which ones you like. A great way to do this is use the Forge feature in the game.
2. Once you have found a weapon you like, think of how it would perform in situations where there are many enemies, or possibly only one enemy. The Gravity Hammer may be great for killing one Brute, but if there is a pack of Brutes, you have a problem. Try to get comfortable with a weapon that works in all situations, as well as your favored one. For example, the Assault Rifle or Battle Rifle is a great secondary weapon to the Sniper Rifle or Beam Rifle. Also consider how often it is found in the game, and how fast it runs through ammunition.
3. Use cover and items to your advantage. If you see a wall that extends into a battlefield, hide behind it when your health starts to run low, and run out when your health recharges. Halo 3 is an accurate game, so you can use real battlefield tactics, like flanking and cover just like in real life.
4. Know how to counter vehicle attacks. Being able to take out a pack of Brutes is great, but what if they all get Choppers? Find and exploit the weaknesses of the vehicles, such as, shoot the Covenant out from the turret in Wraiths.
5. Be sure you have ammunition. If you run out of ammo, just run to a dead body and pick up a new gun, and find a new one later. If there is a small Covenant with a good gun, run up to it and beat it down, then take its gun and continue on your course.
Don't rely too heavily on one weapon, because if you can't find that weapon, you won't be able to beat the Covenant or Flood standing in your way.
If you die, continue playing and find out what you did wrong and correct it. Instead of running into a pack of Brutes and trying to beat them down, pick them off one by one.
Learn to melee at the precise time to take out your enemy before he or she takes you out first,
Remember to use bubble shields and power drainers
Vulture kill. If you see two guys going at it drop back and wait till they both have low shields and swoop in and pick the meat off the bone with a grenade or BR.
Always reload while not in direct combat - those extra few bullets will often make the difference.
