I've never played Halo or Halo 2. I just downloaded the Beta and got my butt handed to me. Anybody got tips for the n00b? My gamertag is Amsterdaam in the event that you are looking for some easy kills!

When you first play halo 3, just shoot all you want, learned from your mistakes.
First of all when facing an enemy 1 on 1 you always:
1. aim at the head, besides smg, shotgun, heavy weapons.
2. use grenades, throw at least 2, then start shooting.
3.If you know that you are going to win run towards him.
If you know that you are going to die against 1 person, do the following:
1. Get toward some kind of cover and wait for your shelds to regenerate (if you can). Then either throw a gernade at the corner where he is chasing you or wait for him around the corner and smack him twice or shoot him with a shotgun.
2. TAKE HIM WITH YOU!!! throw all your grenades, and hope for the best.
3. The best way is to use a bubble shield.
When your are facing 2 at a time:
(NOTE) It is harder to get a double kill in Halo 3 beta then in the Halo 2 game.
1.Run backwards and use you explosives , grenades (plasma is the best defensive grenade) rockets, etc. Careless players usually stick together so try to have a weapon with a field effect. (splash effect)
2. If you have a energy drainer, perfect. Use it so their shields are down and fire. Be careful not to go in it yourself. This is really good against multiple enemies.
3. If you have a trip mine, place it and when the enemies go close to it shoot it. It has a big blast radius, so don't under estimate it. be sure the you are fairly far away from it.
In those Shotty snipers game type (i don't like it):
1. Use your weapon when and where they are built to do. Take out your shotgun when you are inside buildings are place with lots of cover and use your sniper outside and face at open areas.
2. If you see sum1 on your radar (enemies are red dots), take out your shotgun and if they are going towards you, wait for them and shoot.
VIP (protect the president on your team, ha)
1. If you are not the VIP try and find a plasma pistol and a accurate rifle. go for the enemy VIP and charge your pistol and once it hits you either shoot his head if he is far way or melee if he is close. ( this is what people refer to has the noob combo)
2. If you are the VIP you should go sumwhere ( like the edge of the map) and stay there. Your comrads will take care of you, hopefully.
CTF or Bomb:
1. Important for these types for games. Always go with your full team. Never attack by youself or with 2 or less people. If you die, wait until your whole team responds again or meet sumwhere and go attack. (like a wave)
2. The more tactical your team is, the better.
Territories:
1. If you are attacking go for territory number 5 at the start which is their main base/land. The enemies think that you would go for 1, 2, or 3. Be sure that you are by yourself. Your team will get there attention and you will catch the other team surprised.
2. OR you can go at a whole team capturing 1 territory at a time.
3. In the map Valhalla use the Warthog and sum1 be the gunner. This is great for this gametype.
4. When capturing a territory use the bubble shield it will buy you some time.
5. If you are defending, go to the middle of all your territories so if one territory is being captured you can go there quickly. And as always arm yourself.
Remember:
Use the radar.
Get another weapon as soon as possible, the assualt rifle is strong, but there are lots of stronger weapons out there.
When you are in a fierce fight and you need to reload, switch yor guns immedietly, by the time your reload you WILL be dead, expecially with the assualt rifle since a has a small clip.

when you see a guy through a grenade and shoot twice with a battle rifle or the same thing with a assult rifle!
Try to get to the big power weapons first then kill until you die
Pratise with the sniper rifle an get good so you can kill targets from a distance and not get pwned on the battle ground

Stay out of the open areas… I don't konw the map names well, but the snow map has some good hiding places, but if you end up exposed, you will get killed, frequently.. Get out of the rumble pit and try and get into a team based game and hopefully you will not be the only class 1 person there getting fragged all the time. Once you learn the maps you will start to feel better about it… Keep an eye on your radar to try and know when people are on you… and throw grenades when you are in trouble… at least you can take people out with you as you are going down…
I will look for you on there so I can get some easy kills…. lol I am not a great Halo player but I have played enough that I am usually middle of the pack.

Okay dude, I'm not in the Halo 3 Beta, but I've beaten Halo 2 on Legendary. My recommendation is to not always use your weapons. Also make sure to Mellee people when they come near you. Also, make sure to use plenty of grenades so you can get some pretty easy kills. If you use this advice, and get used to using it, you will be a pro in Halo 3 in no time at all.
